The latest chapter of Pat McAfee’s WWE journey has come to an end, as he bid farewell to his role as a color-commentator on WWE Raw. His last appearance was on August 19 at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, Florida.
During the show, McAfee and his commentary partner, Michael Cole, acknowledged his departure, as he shared a video on Instagram earlier that day announcing his hiatus to return to his ESPN College Game Day duties. In a touching moment, a video package highlighting McAfee’s best moments was aired towards the end of the show, leaving him pleasantly surprised.
Joe Tessitore, a former ESPN broadcaster, will step in as the new lead commentator for WWE Raw starting September 2. McAfee is set to make his return to WWE Raw when the show transitions from the USA Network to Netflix in January 2025.
The WWE expressed their gratitude to McAfee with the hashtag #ThankYouPat, assuring fans that they will see him back on Monday nights once WWE Raw makes its move to Netflix in January.
